big yin

the company i work for uses the talents of a very well known scottish comedian in their advertisements. my australian readers will be able to work that one out. this well known scottish comedian is currently on tour and my employer, for obvious reasons, is the sponsor.

being the sponsor means that there are tickets, free tickets, that would somehow make their way into the hands of staff members.

some were given away at the last CEO quarterly update, via the method of 'look under your chair' - a card taped to the bottom of the chair meant you got a double pass. i was convinced i would win but came away disappointed.

there was a tale of tickets being given away to people who had 'done a good job'. i was not so confident as the stakes were much higher. the email announcing the lucky people made me happy to see some people i knew had made the grade. it was not going to ruin me forever if i did not get some tickets. i got on with life.

minding my own business, working away at my desk, the PA of my manager's manager's manager's manager turns up at my desk. she introduced herself and promptly handed me some tickets...

it seems my manager's manager had nominated me for some tickets after the recent 'star' thing. i missed out originally but someone else who had got lucky, for some reason, was unable to use the tickets. i was next on the list...
