i got a little parcel in the mail today - the lovely clara sent me a tca pin. this brave and beautiful blogger was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer. she is tackling it with her usual humourous, positive spirit. please visit her blog, have a look around (i guarantee you will have a chuckle) and send some love.

i also got my johnny cash 'walk the line' 3 cd set ($10 for 3 cds - wow) so i better go put on my stetson and start warbling along.

more good news! my smoke alarm has been squawking for the last 3 or 4 months as the battery was flat. it did not annoy me too much as it was very intermittent and the sound reminded me of my dear departed booboo. anyway, last night was the annual, council required 'smoke alarm/fire door' test. i knew the battery needed to be replaced but i'd not yet been able to get it changed as the few tall people who have visited and tried to do it, could not figure out how it worked. the lovely young man who came to do the test [ tall, broad shouldered, very cute, very young :) ] replaced the battery for me. i will miss the booboo like squawking but at least i'll know now if the building is on fire!
